FAQ

Ten questions we are asked most often. If yours is not here, write to us.

What is Shomer Adamah?

Shomer Adamah (שומר אדמה, "Guardian of the Earth") is an online kibbutz starting in Canada: a community that gathers in person and online, builds projects together and shares a council of AI advisors. It was founded in 2026 by Ehud Cohen.

Where is Shomer Adamah?

Online, so anyone can take part wherever they live. We are starting in Canada, based in Vancouver, British Columbia, and we plan to gather in person across the country. Our first outdoor gatherings are planned for next summer.

What is a kibbutz?

A kibbutz is a community where people work, rest and build together and share what they produce. The first kibbutzim were founded in Israel more than a century ago. Ours begins online and meets in person when we gather.

How can I take part?

Come to a gathering (see the events calendar), read the journal, or sign in with Google to become a member. The same button signs you in or creates your account the first time.

What is the Council and how does it work?

The Council is a group of seven AI advisors. You put a question to them, they debate it from seven points of view and return structured counsel. It orients you; it does not decide for you. The page about the Council explains each advisor.

Is the Council a therapist or a professional adviser?

No. The Council's answers are for reflection. They are not medical, financial or legal advice, we do not offer therapy, and you remain responsible for your own decisions.

What is Shabbat at Shomer Adamah?

Shabbat is a weekly rest of about 25 hours, from Friday sunset to Saturday sunset. It sets the pace of our work: one day a week, we rest. The Shabbat page shows the times for your city.

Does it cost anything?

Signing in is free: there is nothing to pay and no password to create. If that ever changes, we will say so on the Transparency page before it does.

What happens to my data?

This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics. When you sign in with Google we receive your name, email address and photo, and nothing else. A date of birth is optional and is stored encrypted. You can see, export and delete everything we hold about you.

How is the community organised?

Our work is organised around the Tree of Life of Kabbalah: ten positions, called Sefirot, of which seven are the fields we work in today. The Structure page shows the tree, and the Fields page lists the work.
